Snow Motion – SOFIA in HD

This was shot on January 5th for about an hour in the center of Sofia, Bulgaria. It was snowing and I had never filmed in snow before, so I decided to test how weatherproof my Canon 7D was. It worked just fine. I used two lenses for this shoot – Canon EF 70-200 f4 USM L and Sigma 17-70mm and a Benro tripod. I am glad that I went to shoot because today the temperatures were 10 degrees higher and all the snow was gone… All footage is 1280×720, 50p, shutter 1/100. Most of the clips were slowed down for slow motion, some are left as 50p. Enjoy!

Final Cut Pro – Better slow motion with Motion 3 optical flow retiming roundtrip

Face it – Final Cut Pro has never handled retiming very well. Enter Motion 3 and optical flow retiming – a vastly superior yet time consuming way to create slow motion retimed clips. Apple introduced optical flow retiming into the Final Cut Studio with the Motion 3 release. This will probably be better integrated in future version of Final Cut Pro – but for now we examine the Final Cut Pro to Motion 3 back to Final Cut Pro roundtrip method of optical flow retiming.
